Muzsikás - Christmas Concert
28 December 2018, Friday
6:30 pm - 9 pm
one interval
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall

As it does every year, the world-famous Muzsikás will once again take the stage of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in the intimate and festive period between Christmas and the New Year, and, with the help of their friends, will send the audience on the wings of music into a bygone world. They sail to distant lands populated by Hungarians where folk music is built into the fabric of everyday life, and where it is played as a source of joy and a basis for celebration, as well as a remedy for troubles and a soul-soothing stress reliever. For the first time this year, it is not only will the songs of the Hungarian plains that will be performed, but also the traditional songs of an even more distant land, the Indian region of Bengal, featuring the Indian band Folks of Bengal led by Debalina Bhowmick.
This special evening promises even more fantastic experiences than previous occasions, but not without the band's indispensable musical collaborators. Returning this year will be the Moldavian-born singer Mária Petrás, while the younger generation will be represented by one of the young talents of the Fölszállott a páva talent contest, singer Hanga Kacsó and tha Corvinus Dance Ensemble will fire up the atmosphere further. The evening programme will evoke not only the intimacy of Christmas as it leads us into the cheerful and uninhibited atmosphere of dance and celebration, but also a distant, exotic world.
