This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of the best-loved examples of Hungarian animation, Macskafogó (Cat City). Béla Ternovszky and József Nepp’s brilliant creation has become a cult classic over the decades, with its iconic lines and characters now firmly woven into the fabric of everyday life in Hungary. To celebrate this special occasion, Müpa Budapest is paying tribute to the film with an unforgettable audiovisual experience. During the screening, the legendary melodies will be performed live: the brass section of the Budapest Orchestra Project will set the classic film noir atmosphere, while the virtuoso voices of the Jazzation a cappella ensemble evoke the unforgettable 1980s musical backdrop. The adventures of Grabowski and the rats have never sounded so good!
The anniversary screening will be complemented by a range of additional attractions throughout the day, including a photo exhibition, an online quiz, and interactive photo opportunities.
The screening will be in the original Hungarian language, without subtitles.

The Müpa Budapest underground garage gates will be operated by an automatic number plate recognition system.
