This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of the best-loved examples of Hungarian animation, Macskafogó (Cat City). The brilliant work of screenwriter József Nepp, character designer Zoltán Maros, soundtrack composer Tamás Deák, songwriter István Hajnal, and director Béla Ternovszky became a cult film through the decades, with its iconic lines and characters now firmly woven into the fabric of everyday life in Hungary. To celebrate this special occasion, Müpa Budapest is paying tribute to the film with an unforgettable audiovisual production. The legendary film’s music will be played live by the Central Jazz Collective big band, while the iconic songs will be performed by the Jazzation a capella group. The adventures of Grabowski and the rats have never sounded so good!
The anniversary screening will be complemented by a range of additional attractions throughout the day, including a tableau exhibition and interactive photo opportunities.
The screening will be in the original Hungarian language, without subtitles.
