KRIZ & Jesús Molina
28 January 2023, Saturday
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Festival Theatre
Produced by Müpa Budapest

When two rockets meet. Trombonist Krisztián Csapó's fusion, jazz-funk solo project KRIZ is hurtling towards international fame. His guest, Colombian pianist Jesús Molina, can boast one of the most dazzling starts to a career in the world. The millions of views drawn by his YouTube videos show that nothing is impossible for him on the white and black keys. They have much in common: groove, Latin, funk, jazz style elements, brilliantly zigzagging musical solutions. Their aim is to set joy to music.

A finalist in the Hungarian Radio Jazz Trombone Talent Search Competition, Csapó trained in New York and London before working in American theatre orchestras. Much sought after as a session musician, he has contributed, for example, to Charlie's Fonogram Award-winning album Mindenen túl ("Beyond Everything”), and is a member of the BJC Big Band, the Nart Orchestra, the Budapest Ragtime Band, the Attila László Fusion Circus and Budapest Scoring. KRIZ made their debut in 2022 with the album The Journey Home, comprised mostly of their own compositions and featuring Hadrien Feraud, Gergő Borlai and Tom Jones's trumpeter, Ryan Quigley.
Still a mere 26 years old, Jesús Javier Molina Acosta has already worked with artists like Eric Marienthal, Mike Stern, John Patitucci, Randy Brecker and Arturo Sandoval. He started playing the piano as a child prodigy, returning to it at the age of 15 after a detour to the saxophone. Jazz was among the musical genres that he heard for the first time on YouTube, as he attempted to master the techniques and musicality of Oscar Peterson and other legends. He received a full scholarship to complete his studies at the Berklee College of Music, and now teaches himself. For the deeply religious Molina, every concert is a celebration, for his fellow musicians and the audience as well as himself.

This event is presented in association with the Hungarian Jazz Federation.
