The Los Angeles-born saxophonist released his first solo record, Just Between Us, over three decades ago, in 1987. A player at home in a variety of styles, he had already earned distinction by that time as a session musician. He entitled his most recent album "30,” indicating that the material is a look back on the most important moments and compositions of his solo career.
Reminiscing or nostalgia, however, is not the defining characteristic of the album, in which every song received a new, original, highly inventive arrangement. Albright was given a helping hand by Chris "Big Dog” Davis and James "Jrob” Roberson. It is safe to say the anniversary record is a milestone in the saxophonist's career, as well as the mark of a new beginning.
This concert of the Budapest Spring Festival is presented by Müpa Budapest.
