15 October will already see rhythm pour from three stages. Mostly in the tent, of course, because the programme of the Festival Theatre will appeal more to those who want to immerse in melodies and stories. This is where the Hungarian Cimbalomduó, Kálmán Balogh and Miklós Lukács will perform with the Egyptian Tarek Abdallah and Shams el Din - for the first time. This is where you can hear one of last year's world music sensations, the project that Armenian duduk player Vardan Hovanassian and Turkish bağlama player Emre Gültekin created for the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide. And this is where the Sami Torgeir Vassvik, a member of the people living in the Arctic, will share the stage with Romany musicians from Hungary.
In the tent the tempo will be set by Duo Bud, a trio of three female percussionists who won the main prize at last year's Soori Festival in Korea; their effort will be counterpointed by an eight-strong brass band from Vienna, who fuse the stage charisma of a boy band with the power of Balkan brass ensembles. In their turn, Monoswezi will show that music needs no passport with the participation of Norwegian, Swedish, Mozambican and Zimbabwean musicians.
The third venue, the so-called showcase stage set up in Müpa Budapest's Atrium, will feature four Hungarian bands, the winners of a competition, for the benefit of the audience and the invited international experts.
