A living legend reads from a novel that shook the Hungarian literary world. It is no exaggeration to say that the Aegon Prize-winning, two-volume Világló részletek - Emléklapok egy elbeszélő életéből, is one of Hungary's greatest literary sensations in recent years. The combination of sweeping, unputdownable, stirring and achingly precise prose with Nádas's personal magnetism and compelling performance style ensures the audience will enjoy an unforgettable evening.
Meeting a writer like Péter Nádas in such an intimate setting is a once in a lifetime experience. This promises to be a truly special evening, especially given his infrequent appearances in Hungary, providing us not only with some insight into a first-class literary career, but also an introduction to the philosophy of a magical and influential personality. With his ascetic working style over the years, Nádas¬ has written some truly great novels - especially Emlékiratok könyve (A Book of Memories), Párhuzamos történetek, (Parallel Stories) and Világló részletek, which in addition to his other significant books, including Egy családregény vége (The End of a Family Story) and Saját halál (Own Death), belong to that special group of works that can chang a person's life. They confront issues which can no longer be avoided or swept under the carpet. Attentive readers of Nádas will see both the world and themselves in a another light - and we could hardly ask for more of an artist or artistic career. On their way home, the audience for this evening's event will go home with a different persepective to when they arrived.
