France's latest concert hall, the Philharmonie de Paris opened this January. The particularly impressive spaces of the building also give home to interactive, thematic exhibitions that employ the latest technologies. It bears testimony to the open-mindedness of the organizers that currently exhibitions are dedicated to David Bowie and Marc Chagall, and future themes include both Beethoven and The Velvet Underground. The exhibit to arrive in Budapest celebrates the work of the 90-year-old Pierre Boulez, one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
The exhibit presents the key works of an oeuvre that spans several periods, and highlights the sister arts that served Boulez with inspiration. Emblematic stages of his career as a conductor are also evoked, as the famed Ring cycle at Bayreuth, and the production of Rituel in memoriam Bruno Maderna.
Spectacular, informative and engaging its audience with interactive features, the exhibit is hoped to attract and captivate not only the dedicatees of contemporary art, but all lovers of music as well.
A joint production of the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival, the Cité de la musique and the Institut Francais.
