Through the collaboration of the Palace of Arts and the Hungarian National Digital Archive and Film Institute (MaNDA), the Müpa Mozi series of digital film screenings presents the finest works from legendary film directors. The second half of the year is devoted to a retrospective of the work of Hungarian cinema’s most versatile film-making talent, the Kossuth Prize-winner Károly Makk. Liliomfi – as one of its screenwriters Péter Bacsó described it – was made “in the name of liberty, playfulness and youth,” and against hypocrisy. This fresh comedy swept aside yesterday everything which we call the “1950s” at a stroke.
