One of the most influential linguistic inventors of contemporary Hungarian literature is István Csukás, whose tales have nourished the minds of generations of children. Exceptionally rich as the Hungarian children's book scene is, few of its authors are capable of what Csukás can do: inhabit the children's world, see through their eyes, become a child again, experience the adventures of the tales from the inside.
Csukás does what only the greatest can do, educate and entertain at the same time. The figures he creates are as fallible, sensitive and vulnerable as we are. This celebration of his 80th birthday on the Day of Hungarian Poetry, a special event of the Budapest Spring Festival, will focus on the master's extremely significant poetic oeuvre, and awaits his adult readers. With close friends and fellow authors paying their tribute, this evening promises both profound entertainment and hilarious fun.
