Though she ranks among the most outstanding contemporary Hungarian authors, Zsuzsa Rakovszky is a reticent figure, preferring to stay out of the limelight and only taking on a public role on the rarest of occasions. We can promise both her oldest and newest readers an intense, riveting and intimate evening. In an unbroken arc from her book of verse Jóslatok és határidők , published in 1981 at the beginning of her career, to the novel Célia (2017), Rakovszky's artistic career has featured both poems and novels, including such memorable works asFehér-fekete (1991), Hangok (1994), Egyirányú utca (1998), A kígyó árnyéka (2002), A hullócsillag éve (2005), VS (2011) and Forteplan (2015). According to the publisher's description, Rakovszk's most recent work, Célia, is a 'special family novel about things missing in families and negative charges, people who together in search of happiness and through the loneliness of companionship. About talking at cross purposes. About attraction and repulsion. About rebellion and freedom...' We are sure to hear excerpts from the book during this special evening at Müpa Budapest.
