Conductor: Sándor Balogh Story teller: Győző Lukácsházi What do small children enjoy? They love playing, they love hearing stories. They love hearing music and are only too happy to join in. And what don’t they like? Having to sit still in one place for too long, especially in silence. The series Musical Mornings for Little Children at the Palace of Arts is aimed at children from two to eight, along with their parents and grandparents of course, and involves performances which have the preferences of tiny tots very much in mind. They get to hear beautiful music accompanied by the words of programme hosts who really understand kids. Their performances are expanded with plenty of games that the children can join in, they can move and even hear their own voices. In the meantime, they learn to recognise instruments, human voices and the basics of dance – we are imperceptibly planting seeds in them which in a few years time, will blossom into a true love of music. In today’s programme, two well known stories will be heard, in a version by Sándor Balogh and Győző Lukácsházi. Just as with their earlier great success, Toby the Tuba, they call their creations musical fairy stories. Every character in the tales is represented by a single instrument, and so the children imperceptibly learn to recognise and love the musical interludes.
