In Ervin Lázár’s magical and witty tale, the mouse simply sits and narrates his story, as all the residents of the forest listen to the great teller of tall tales with open mouths. But what is the difference between lies and dreaming? What can be done if someone is a firm believer in the power of storytelling? One of the secrets of this highly successful, two-person performance from the Mesebolt Puppet Theatre from Szombathely – one of Hungary's most significant puppet theatre workshops – is the playful and humorous presentation of the animal roles. Though, in addition to plenty of happy moments, there are also some lessons to be learnt under the direction of András Veres, as it is with his squeaks the the mouse pulls his many friends out of trouble.
