The highly acclaimed Müpa Budapest fairy-tale concert will be on show once again this winter, but at a new venue in Millenáris Park.
Can you imagine the Hungarian musicians Viki Lábas and Lóci Csorba as twin babies inside a giant washing machine? Or Iván Vitáris in a dog costume? Gergely Dánielfy as a prince fighting a dragon? We already have. And it is an incredible experience.
Sky-High Music is a cheerful, witty response through music, songs and dance to the anxieties that afflict us all in our everyday lives. A princess is awaiting her first child, but finds that her scatterbrained and entertaining surroundings are likely to prove more of a hindrance than a help when it comes to performing her future maternal duties. Cool characters, surprising situations, sparkling linguistic humour and exciting adventures await, both inside and outside the palace. And by the end we even find out that good music and high-class jokes really do strengthen our immune systems.
A truly stellar cast will bring a rearranged version of the poet Anna Szabó T's fairy-tale story to life, full of sparkling humour and positive emotions and featuring well-known characters from the world of Hungarian folk tales. Except they behave a little bit differently. The constantly cleaning pregnant princess and her rhyming husband, the princess's royal father - who does nothing but dismissively wave to the crowd - and a constantly over-anxious and excessively ceremonious witch all join forces with some household pets wholly comfortable with their mythical nature and the unborn heirs to the throne to together create a true mess of a situation. And like any good fairy tale, it also comes with a message: that we must provide each other with love and attention, while freeing ourselves from anxiety. Dániel Halasi directs children's theatre throughout Hungary. With the help of some superb actors and singers, he stages an extraordinary story containing a succession of modern pop hits weaved into a fairy-tale that will enchant us all. For the live music, Lóci Csorba, frontman of Lóci, and violinist Izsák Farkas, will together head a nine-person band. By the end of the performance, we will also finally find out who the best dancer is...
