The widely recognised - both in Hungary and abroad - big band Modern Art Orchestra, led by trumpeter Kornél Fekete-Kovács, needs no more proof of its versatility than the fact that Péter Eötvös speaks just as appreciatively of their activities as Michel Legrand and Ennio Morricone do. Their show I'm from America uses the power of theatre and humour to bring the genre of jazz closer to the next generation of music listeners, although the parents and grandparents accompanying the youngsters are sure to have a good time too. One of the most seasoned practitioners of improvisational theatre, Péter Kálloy Molnár adopts a series of personae at the show, presenting various typical characters from the world of show business. The playful stories take shape by way of interaction with the big band and the audience. In the second half of the programme, the orchestra will close the show with a concert of selected pieces related to the programme's subject matter.
