Now four decades old, the development and associated teaching methods of the Hungarian Dance House movement were added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2011 as a model for “best safeguarding practices” of only Hungarian culture. Dance houses are not reserved for grown-ups, they are also great for introducing young people and children to the ancient but no less current practice of group dance and music. Once a month, the Müpa Children's Dance House is incorporated into the Sunday programme of the Palace of Delights. Expert dance instructors show children their first dance steps, but the unique nature of the genre ensures that even those children or even adults who are already well versed in Hungarian folk traditions can enjoy the infectious and unmistakable atmosphere of a genuine dance house.
