Ballet in two parts

This production seeks out the causes for senseless conflict between cultured people and the practically instinctive rejection of the 'other'. Will the death of the two young people really bring about a genuine rapprochement? Can the irreconcilable be reconciled? Balázs Vincze's passionate and dynamic language of dance breathes new life into the tale of the best-known pair of lovers in world literature. The unique visual world is provided by the fertile imaginations of set designer Balázs Cziegler and costume designer Julcsi Kiss. The company's core philosophy, as well as a key element of its success, is to create choreographies chiefly to the music of contemporary composers, alongside the great classics. The original - classically inspired - music for Romeo and Juliet was written by Richárd Riederauer. In the spirit of both innovation and respect for tradition, our aim continues to be to touch the viewer's heart and to make them think.(Teodóra Uhrik)

This production is a co-production of Pécsi Balett Nonprofit Kft. and Pécsi Nemzeti Színház Nonprofit Kft. and has been made possible with the support of the National Cultural Fund.
