Mikhail Petuhov who performs with the King St Stephen Symphony Orchestra for the first time, gave his inaugural piano recital at the age of ten. After successes in international competition, among them the Leipzig Bach Piano Competition and the Brussels Queen Elisabeth competition, he was showered with invitations that took him to many European countries, as well as Japan and America. Today he is a professor at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire and regularly conducts master classes. Yuri Simonov completed his studies at the Leningrad Conservatoire. In 1968 he won the Rome International Santa Cecilia Conducting Competition, before being appointed chief conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow where he reintroduced Wagner to the repertoire after a forty year hiatus. He regularly works in the countries of Europe and since 1989, outside. He first conducted the King Saint Stephen Symphony Orchestra in 1998. Prokofiev’s cantata Alexander Nevsky was originally written for Eisenstein’s famous film of the same name. This historic tableau in seven movements presents the noble and patriotic deeds of the eponymous hero.
