Verdi

Don Carlos

The artistic director of the London National Theatre makes his debut directing this new Met production of Don Carlos, which enjoyed a highly successful première in London, 2008. The conductor made a name for himself this year with an unforgettable Carmen and the American audience have taken him to their hearts. The cast features world stars, including some making their Met debut. This dual première is made further exciting by Roberto Alagna in the title role, Anna Smirnova as Eboli and Eric Halfvarson, who is gifted with a breathtakingly powerful dramatic bass voice, as the Inquisitor. The transmissions in Budapest have been made possible by Erste Bank, a strategic partner of the Palace of Arts. Bloomberg is the global corporate sponsor of The Met: Live in HD.
