The “Wagner in Budapest” Opera Festival, organised in June every year, introduced a completely new form of opera performance in the Palace of Arts. Conductor Ádám Fischer, artistic director of the festival believes that ‘insane visions, such as this one, make it worth choosing a career in the arts’. The film explores the origin of the opera and positions Wagner’s truly unconventional work in the history of music. The documentary features the creators of the production: the audience gets a glimpse into the world of this unique and magical Wagner opera through Ádám Fischer’s analysis of the plot and the music, while the two directors, Alexandra Szemerédy and Magdolna Parditka talk about the artistic concept behind the staging.
