The exceptionally intense ten days of the Solti International Conducting Competition will conclude with a gala concert led by the finalists followed by an awards ceremony. Each of the finalists will delight the audience with a piece they have already performed in the final: Liszt’s Les Préludes, S. 97, Dohnányi’s Symphonic Minutes, Op. 36, Bartók’s Dance Suite, Sz. 77, BB 86 and Kodály’s Dances of Galánta.
After the performances, we will learn who the international jury led by Pinchas Steinberg found to be the best conductor in this competition named after one of the greatest maestros of the 20th century. The conductor who wins first place will be deserving of the highest praise, especially considering the numbers: the winner will emerge from a field of nearly 400 applicants from 61 countries.
