In collaboration with the Budafok Dohnanyi Orchestra, Sergei Nakariakov will be playing Amilcare Ponchielli's magnificent Italian Romantic trumpet concerto, along with a set of variations, Carnival of Venice, written on a Neapolitan folk song by one of the leading French trumpet virtuosos of the time, Joseph Jean-Baptiste Laurent Arban.

The world-famous trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov burst onto the international music scene in the early 1990s. He has played concerts alongside top conductors like Sir Neville Marriner, Kent Nagano, Mikhail Pletnev, Sakari Oramo, Jaap van Zweden, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Spivakov, Christoph Eschenbach, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Jiří Bělohlávek. He also has more than 15 CDs to his name, recorded with the world's leading record labels, and he is a fixture at the most important concert halls, both as a soloist performing concertos and as a chamber musician. His regular partners on piano are the Belgian musician Maria Meerovitch and his sister Vera Okhotnikova. At this joint concert with the Budafok Dohnanyi Orchestra, he will be interpreting works by Ponchielli and Arban, and since the destination for this journey is Italy, the orchestra will also be bookending the trumpet virtuoso's playing with one of Verdi's beloved overtures and Respighi's popular symphonic poem.
