Six decades of world stardom! It is hard to imagine anyone who would not be curious to see that Spanish/Mexican artist of artists Plácido Domingo, who as the most elegant tenor – now a baritone – of them all, has triumphed in more roles in more styles in more opera houses around the world than anyone else, in the process racking up an unrivalled heap of awards and becoming a mentor to multitudes of young singers! His return to Müpa Budapest is practically a homecoming, one promising both variety and light enjoyment, as he takes the stage accompanied by his guests, the Operalia-winning Armenian soprano Juliana Grigoryan and one of our own favourite Hungarian tenors, László Boldizsár, along with the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra – this time conducted by Eugene Kohn – to perform popular arias by Verdi, Puccini, Gounod, Bizet and others, as well as excerpts from operettas by Lehár and Kálmán and from his favourite Spanish zarzuelas.
