One of the instruments with the longest history in European musical culture, the organ has always been closely linked to contemporary technological innovation throughout the ages: the water organs of antiquity, the instrument wonders of Bach's century, or the organs built during the period of French Romanticism, sang the praise not only of artistic creativity, but of technical ingenuity as well. This continues to be true in our own time, when multifunctional instruments are installed in the modern concert halls, which can represent the different styles of the ages.

Organ Matrix is a special Gesamtkunstwerk. It is a series of poetically linked scenes, in which traditional instruments and means of musical expression join forces with the latest digital technologies to transport the audience into a magical visual world. It is an abstract circus, in which everything is related to everything else. Everything is music, movement and vision. In this digital experiment the "machines” are used in a game whose purpose is to discover musicality under the surface of everyday reality.

When the artists participating in Organ Matrix started to explore the relationships between cutting-edge technologies and artistic expression, they found the organ to be a "natural” ally: the ancient instrument feels perfectly at home in the centre of endeavours that seek to extend everyday dimensions, and demand their recipients to actively exercise all their senses.
