Beethoven
Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, op. 58
Grieg
Piano Concerto in A minor, op. 16
The Kossuth and Liszt Prize-winning pianist, and winner of awards at ten international piano competitions, once more appears before the Müpa audience with another major undertaking. Following memorable evenings of concertos by Chopin, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and other Romantic composers, this musician of unrivalled stage expertise will begin on this occasion with a performance of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor, a work which quickly found its place in Europe’s concert halls following its Norwegian première in 1869. Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in G major was created in the “last moments” of Viennese classicism. Like the first three of Beethoven’s piano concertos, the soloist at the première – first privately at the Palais Lobkowitz, and then at the Theater an der Wien – was the composer himself.
