The New Hungarian Music Forum's composition competition is a unique opportunity for young and middle-generation composers to present such works to the public that employ large ensembles. The primary objective of the competition is to encourage and support the creation of new pieces, and to foster lasting cooperation between composers and orchestras. Judit Varga, Balázs Horváth, Péter Tornyai, Máté Balogh, Bánk Sáry, Marcell Dargay, Máté Bella, László Sándor, Péter Zombola and Dániel Dinyés were some of the award winners in recent years, and they have all become forces to reckon with in Hungarian contemporary music.
Honouring the 75th anniversary of Béla Bartók's death, the jury now invites entries that feature, or were inspired by, the fugue theme in the first movement of Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta.

This concert of the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival is presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with Budapest Music Center.
