Mussorgsky

Boris Godunov

The title role will be sung by René Pape for the very first time: he became a huge favourite at the MET with his performances of Marke in Tristan, Mephistopheles in Faust, Gurnemanz in Parsifal and King Philip in Don Carlos. He will be supported by Ekaterina Semenschuk, Aleksandrs Antonenko, Oleg Balashkov, Yevgeni Nikitin and Mihail Petrenko. Valery Geriev conducts Mussorgsky’s original orchestral score. The production is the gift of Karen and Kevin Kennedy, and Mr and Mrs Wilmer J. Thomas Jr. The transmissions in Budapest have been made possible by Erste Bank, a strategic partner of the Palace of Arts. Bloomberg is the global corporate sponsor of The Met: Live in HD.
