“Lutheran Hymns 8”
3 July 2009 Friday
5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Béla Bartók National Concert Hall

WITHIN THE 6TH LUTHERAN MUSIC FESTIVAL “Since 2002, we have organised a concert series called Lutheran Hymns in which the psalms, prayers and hymns from the hymn book for church use are performed by a choir of 350 people with soloists, organ accompaniment and sometimes improvisation and audience participation. Our objective has always been to record and pass on to the present and future generations our psalms and hymns within the framework of an artistic experience and spiritual regeneration. Some well-know choirs have sung in recent years (and will again this year) such as the Debrecen Collegium Cantus, the Imre Palló Choir Pasarét, the Psalterium Hungaricum Choir, the Pesterzsébet Central Lutheran Church Mixed Choir, the Soli Deo Gloria Choir as well as choirs from Gödöllő, Gönc, Kecskemét, Miskolc, Pápa, Pécs, Kunszentmiklós as well as others from Slovakia and Transylvania. Choir conductors have included Sándor Berkesi, János Arany, Zsófia Cseri, Tamás Bódiss and Péter Hoppál. Concert organists, who have appeared on 7 CD recordings released so far, have been János Pálúr, Csilla Alföldy-Boruss, László Fassang, László Draskóczy and Antal Kéménczy. The resident vocal soloists are Boglárka Berkesi, István Basky and Gyöngyi Écsi. Lutheran Church choirs, soloists and organ playing, as well as the audience will again all explore psalms and hymns together. The concert will be recorded and filmed as Lutheran Hymns 8. We are immensely proud that our Lutheran Hymns II album has achieved platinum status.” Gergely Böszörményi publisher, concert director
