A young Romanian guest conductor will take the Hungarian National Philharmonic through its paces on the second night of its Kocsis subscription. Gabriel Bebeselea has agreed to step in place of Lawrence Foster, who was forced to cancel his appearance due to illness.
The 39-year-old conductor, who shares the same musical roots as Lawrence Foster, completed his studies in Bucharest and Vienna and was the winner of the 2015 Lovro von Matačić International Conducting Competition. He is currently the principle conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest. The audience at the concert will hear the programme originally announced.
