A few weeks after the previous occasion, Domonkos Héja will return to conduct the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra again. The concert will both open and close with a fairy tale, both of them brought to life by outstanding composers. In his Swan of Tuonela, Sibelius set the story familiar from the Kalevala to music: the exotic and hypnotic character of the melodic world creates a feeling of solitude and reassuring solace. Prokofiev’s Cinderella Suite is a series of vividly atmospheric passages composed for the fairy tale. Between these two pieces, Barnabás Kelemen will interpret the emotionally rich and virtuosic movements of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major.
