La Boutique fantastique

This concert takes the audience to magical lands. That of Harry Potter, a familiar place for many, heavily features the music of John Williams. The inquisitive Harry delves into the world of mysterious sorcery that Williams brings to life, encountering dangers lying in wait for him, fantastic beings and the hidden events of the past. The composer leads us into the kind of universe where we'd all like to escape our everyday lives now and then.
Ottorino Respighi compiled the music to the ballet The Magic Toybox by scoring piano works by Rossini. A box can conceal many things, especially when it allows one to cross into another, fabulous dimension. Attempting to find friends in a world of toys, our protagonist encounters various dolls. He realises that they feel the same kinds of emotions that people do - and form similar bonds and relationships. Even love is in the cards. The choreographer of the piece, János Feledi, has created a spectacular world for the music.
