Formed in 1963, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra today ranks among the world’s most distinguished chamber ensembles. Taking charge of the orchestra on this occasion is Swiss composer, conductor and oboist Heinz Holliger, who has been recognised for decades as one of the leading performers of contemporary music, and is perhaps the most committed and active champion of Sándor Veress's work. He has been involved in several successful productions with husband-and-wife pianists Izabella Simon and Dénes Várjon, who on this occasion have invited the young German violinist Veronika Eberle to join them. The latter’s international career began at the Salzburg Easter Festival with the Berlin Philharmonic under Simon Rattle.
