Berlioz

Symphonie fantastique, Op. 14

Reverie, joie de vivre, romanticism, amorous drama and autobiographical music. Between two famous French works, we will encounter a new side of Alban Berg: the romantic composer speaks to us from the beginning of his career. Debussy’s music irresistibly exudes the beauty of life and, through his gift for character portrayal, we experience the afternoon of a faun fantasizing about nymphs while playing his pan flute. Berg’s early songs were conceived in the emotional milieu of late Romanticism. Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique justifiably bears the subtitle “Episodes from the Life of an Artist”, recalling as it does the composer’s own personal life and even his dreams. Come and join us on this dreamlike journey!
