This special concert is aimed at presenting the spirituality and ecclesiastical art of the Greek Catholic church through its choral traditions, in the form of a kind of “devotion of voices”. The mystery play devised to commemorate the martyred Bishop Theodore Romzha, a recently beatified figure who remains emblematic for those of the Catholic faith practising the Byzantine Rite in the Carpathian Basin, follows the career of the church leader, whose earthly existence was ended by an injection of ...KGB poison some 65 years ago on 1 November 1947. With the help of a sheet music booklet, the audience will be able to join in the devotion at certain points, lending the event a somewhat liturgical feel.
