J. S. Bach

St Matthew Passion, BWV 244

In 2010, Philippe Herreweghe won the Bach Medal from the city of Leipzig. In the same year, the ensemble which he founded under the name of Collegium Vocale Gent celebrated its 40th anniversary. The choir has established its global reputation based principally on its performances of the works of J.S. Bach. In 2007, the conductor and his ensemble treated Budapest concertgoers to a translucently clear interpretation of the St John Passion. On the occasion of the year’s Spring Festival, Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent will perform the St Matthew Passion.
