“A notable emerging talent,” The Strad wrote of the Swedish violinist, who has triumphed at prestigious competitions such as the Premio Paganini and the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition. Ava Bahari is currently the resident artist of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Now a sought-after soloist, her Rising Stars recital will paint a comprehensive picture: on her 1694 Stradivarius, she will trace back through three centuries of evolution in violin playing. Her solo recital will begin with J. S. Bach’s Partita performed with a Baroque bow and proceed through works by Eugène Ysaÿe and Grażyna Bacewicz before arriving at the present day. One of the concert’s most exciting moments will be a new work commissioned by ECHO from one of Sweden’s leading composers, Anders Hillborg. The evening promises a virtuosic exploration of the outermost expressive possibilities of the instrument.
Nominated for the Rising Stars programme by: Konserthuset Stockholm, Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris, NOSPR Katowice.
