An Evening with István Kemény
18 February 2013, Monday
7 pm - 9 pm
Glass Hall
Produced by Müpa Budapest
Literarium – Contemporary Writers at Müpa Budapest

Valami a vérről (Something about Blood), Hideg (Cold), Élőbeszéd (Spoken Language), Állástalan táncosnő (Jobless Dancer), Az ellenség művészete (The Art of the Enemy), Kedves Ismeretlen (Dear Unknown): These are titles of books by an author with an army of fans in humanities departments that makes him comparable to a rock star. István Kemény is among the cult figures and defining poets of his generation, an inescapable and hugely influential representative of contemporary Hungarian literature. A host of young poets have set out on the path he beat out, while he has won popularity and success with readers without making any kind of aesthetic concession to achieve it. Kemény has taken to the Literarium stage once before as a guest of János Háy, but this time, we will watch what happens when the evening is about him and his own invited guests. As is the custom in this series, we can reveal only the musical collaborators for the evening’s dialogue in advance, in this case Enikő Záhonyi and Kristóf Darvas.
