Stravinsky Marathon
Every February since 2008, the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Palace of Arts have organised a marathon of a chosen composer's work from morning until late at night at the Béla Bartók Concert Hall and Festival Theatre. In parallel to this, memorable performances are screened in the Lecture Hall and the range of CDs for sale also reflects the composer of the day.
This time around, the chosen composer is Igor Stravinsky. Once again, the organisers of this remarkable event led by Iván Fischer will be doing their best to present the works in their original form: Pulcinella with dancers, Petruska with a puppet theatre according to the 1911 version, and The Soldier's Tale with actors. The audience will also hear the Symphony of Psalms, The Rite of Spring, Stravinsky's Violin Concerto and many other familiar or rarely heard compositions.
Tickets of each of the 50 minute concerts are 990 HUF, anyone purchasing three tickets is entitled to enter the fourth free of charge. So the cost of attending all 11 concerts is 8910 HUF instead of 10890 HUF.
