Jazz Showcase 2023 – Here are the favourites jury and the audience!

The 16th edition of Jazz Showcase just finished with overwhelming support from the audience. Throughout the three-day programme, six jazz bands were competing for the votes of the spectators and the jury.
Both Müpa Budapest’s Professional Prize, based on the votes of the international jury, and the Jazz Showcase 2023 Audience Prize were awarded to Symbiosis 5: they are rewarded with a chance to perform on the National Jazz Day in Müpa. In addition, the band was also presented with the Hungarian Jazz Federation’s and Budapest Music Center’s Special Prize, so they’ll have the opportunity to perform at the Celebration of Hungarian Jazz Festival and Opus Jazz Club as well. Trio Johnology was granted the Hungarian Jazz Federation’s, the Valley of Arts Veronika Harcsa Stage’s and Jazzfestival Leibnitz’s Special Prize, so they will be performing at the Celebration of Hungarian Jazz Festival, at the Valley of Arts Festival and at Jazzfestival Leibnitz 2024 respectively. Zemplén Festival’s Special Prize – along with the invitation to perform at the festival –, was presented to Sárközi Dina Quintet, who were also awarded with the 11th Paloznaki Jazzpiknik Special Prize. Jazz Club DS, Dunaszerdahely’s Special Prize winner is Nagy Noémi Quartet, so they will be performing on Samaria Jazz Festival, while ZamJam’s Special Prize, a performance on ZamJam Festival was awarded to Ineffable. The 606 Club, London Special Prize was presented to Egri János Jr., who will perform as a soloist in the Club’s 2023/2024 season.
