There are many ways to pay tribute to the memory of Miles Davis, who was born 100 years ago, but few people beyond his bandmates can say they experienced the Miles magic up close, and received timeless guidance from the master of jazz. The Miles Electric Band, formed in 2010, was brought to life by Emmy- and Grammy-winning producer and drummer Vince Wilburn Jr., Miles’s nephew, with the aim of evoking the music of Davis’s 1980s electronic era, and taking it even further. In recent years, they have performed at the world’s most prestigious concert halls and festivals. Band leader Wilburn is joined on this centenary tour by several former collaborators, including bassist Darryl Jones, guitarist Jean Paul Bourelly, keyboardist Robert Irving III, and percussionist Munyungo Jackson, with Keyon Harrold also playing a prominent role on trumpet.
