We regret to inform you that due to illness, István Kovács has cancelled his performance for the afternoon. Miklós Sebestyén will take his place.

Thank you for your understanding!

Conductor:

Ádám Fischer

Featuring:

soprano Laura Topolánszky
tenor Zoltán Megyesi
bass Miklós Sebestyén
Danish Chamber Orchestra
Arnold Schoenberg Choir (artistic director: Erwin Ortner)

How did the world come to be born from chaos? How can music tell the story of light coming into being? What appears in the score when birds fly overhead or the sea rears up? Haydn’s The Creation is filled with evocative musical tricks, from which Ádám Fischer will select highlights for Müpa Budapest’s traditional New Year’s afternoon concert, one specifically designed for schoolchildren. The explanations will be presented in Hungarian by Laura Topolánszky, Zoltán Megyesi and Miklós Sebestyén, but the orchestra and choir are the same as those in the evening’s “grand” performance. This short but enjoyable concert will focus solely on what we hear rather than what we see, thereby profoundly engaging the imagination. The new year may get off to a quieter start than usual, yet the occasion promises to be no less special. Highly recommended for families.
