István Várdai, at home both in Hungary and abroad, on and off the concert stage, on screen and present for a live discussion – this programme promises a complex experience that, after the screening of the portrait documentary about the great cellist, will bring him to the stage to converse with music historian Gergely Fazekas and the director of the film, Eszter Száraz, who followed Várdai with her camera for four years. Shot in Vienna, Lucca, Kronberg and, to a great extent, at Müpa Budapest itself, the film offers sincere and inspiring insight into the everyday life of this extraordinary musician, while also providing the viewer with a closer look at the eternal, fundamental questions of artistic talent and dedication.
In Hungarian, without subtitles.
The discussion after the screening will be conducted in Hungarian.
TRIONfilm Productions 2024 / The production of this film was made possible with the support of the National Film Institute Hungary (NFI).
