The 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic are a unique ensemble, composed exclusively of instrumentalists from the cello section of one of the world’s top symphony orchestras. Equally singular is the story of their genesis: in 1972, when the artists began to play music separately as a casual group with the aim of recording an album, the result was so successful that they have been touring the world ever since, burnishing not only their own reputations, but that of their parent orchestra as well. They compile their programmes from an incredibly colourful and entertaining repertoire. This performance, their second visit to Müpa Budapest, will be no exception, featuring popular tunes by Boris Blacher, John Williams, Nino Rota, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Michel Legrand, Burt Bacharach, and Astor Piazzolla, among others.

A basszus reneszánsza
Hogyan lett egy kicsinyítő képzőből a koncerttermek egyik legnagyobb sztárja? Ki a Király a csellók között? És melyik magyar muzsikus játszik a világ egyik legrégebbi Stradivari csellóján? Tartson velünk egy 500 éves időutazásra, amelynek első állomása – mint oly sokszor – ezúttal is Cremona.

A zene fővárosai: Berlin
Ma a világ egyik legjobb zenekara és alighanem a legtöbb nagy karmestere is Berlinben működik, a zenebarát pedig csak kapkodja a fejét, hogy hova menjen este koncertre.
