A wonderful teacher, an inspired discoverer of unjustly forgotten masterpieces and contemporary compositions, and one of the most beloved luminaries of the Hungarian musical community – Ilona Prunyi warrants celebration for every one of her qualities. Yet, at her birthday concert, she will be the one bestowing a gift upon her audience as she performs alongside her close chamber music collaborators: her contemporary Miklós Perényi and the generations-younger Ádám Banda. We will hear works that simultaneously represent the musical world of this pianist – who played a part in launching the Dohnányi renaissance and feels equally at home in the realms of early and late Romanticism – while also offering an enticing sample from the oeuvres of three extraordinary composers. A rare treat both for seasoned concertgoers and those eager to acquaint themselves with chamber music.
