The organ
The organ in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall is ranked among the largest concert hall organs in the world. The instrument - built under the cooperation of Pécsi Orgonaépítő Manufaktúra and Mühleisen Orgelbau Stuttgart - was inaugurated in May 2006 at a ceremony attended by leading figures from Hungary’s art, economic and political scene. As the most important symbol inside the hall, our organ combines architecture and music, connects past and present, and creates a link between musical genres and cultures. Delving the instrument’s enigmas at once entails a glimpse into engineering history and musical experience, partaken by thousands of curious visitors during concerts and organ performances.
