The popular folk-rock band MORDÁI, which was founded by Soma Nóvé – who made his name with the group Middlemist Red – feeds on the bedrock of experimental Hungarian folk music of the 1960s and 70s, boldly reconceptualising folk songs and well-known melodies with jazz motifs and elements of improvisation. Though Nóvé initially performed with a single guitar, MORDÁI has since expanded to a six-person group featuring a psychedelic sound that conjures up a dark bandit-like personality, and which has become a true highlight of the Budapest concert scene. The album, Álom esett a szememre (A Dream Fell On My Eyes), which was released at the end of 2022, received plaudits from the general public and critics alike.
