The Black Tea Group was formed in 2024 with the aim of building bridges between the past and present of jazz – and even extending to genres beyond it. In its initial line-up, Tamás Papp was joined by Balázs Raboczki and Roland Majsai, before the band expanded into a quartet with the addition of Melissza Fehér a few months later. They hope to perform many more concerts than they already have under their belts. The band’s members are key figures in Hungary’s young jazz scene. All of them are students at the jazz department of the Liszt Academy, or obtained their undergraduate degrees there. Tamás Papp completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, and is currently pursuing his master's at the Liszt Academy. Balázs Raboczki and Roland Majsai are experienced Showcase performers, while Melissza Fehér is making her debut at the talent exchange this year.
