The modern jazz quintet, Sharp5, formed in 2023. Four of its members study at the jazz department of the Liszt Academy, while Gábor Rigó is in his fifth year at the Béla Bartók Conservatory. The band gave its first concert at the House of Music Hungary, and has since performed at venues including the Opus Jazz Club and the Budapest Jazz Club. The quintet was given a major boost when it won the 2025 National Jazz Music Competition in both the individual and ensemble categories. In concert, they perform their own compositions written by Gábor Rigó and Bence Mózes. The group is led by Melissza Fehér, who was awarded a full scholarship to the Berklee College of Music’s Five-Week Aspire programme in 2025. Péter Bán was a finalist in the Gyula Babos Guitar Competition in 2024. As a member of the Szabolcs Horváth Quartet, Zsolt Vörös won the professional jury prize at the 2025 Jazz Showcase.
