Now being organised for the twelfth year by Müpa Budapest, the Jazz Showcase is firmly established as one of Central Europe's most important musical talent exchanges. As in previous years, nine young bands will compete to be the jury's, and the audience's, favourite. The performances will represent the broadest possible variety of jazz styles and instrumentation. Winners of the grand prize and audience prize will get a chance to play at Müpa Budapest again in 2019, and special category prizes will also be awarded. This event is presented in association with the Hungarian Jazz Federation, the Zemplén Festival and the Jazz Studies Research Group (Jatakucs).
Senga was formed in the autumn of 2018 by the singer Ágnes Szász, whose musical career has already seen her appear alongside a number of well-known musicians both at home and abroad,é and perform in a range of different styles. In 2017, she won the Special Jury Prize in the Marosvásárhely International Jazz Competition with the Ágnes Szász Quartet. The Senga project is one of the stations along the singer's journey, conjuring up a new kind of musical world for her listeners that combines elements of soul, neo-soul, R&B, jazz and groove. This concert will feature a mix of covers and the group's own songs.
