Up-and-coming guitarist Balázs Varga has been active as a composer for three years now; his composition I Dream In The Past won a prize in the Müpa Music Competition in 2020. While his pieces represent a unique sound, at the same time he strives to offer his listeners an inclusive musical experience. He comes to the Jazz Showcase with a brand new team and a mature repertoire. Balázs Varga / Expression uses motifs from jazz, light music, and classical music.
Varga was named the Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 2016 And took first place at the First Downtown Budapest Jazz Competition in 2017 And the Fourth Hungarian National Jazz Competition in 2019. In that same year, he also won the Laureate World-Jazz Competition before going on to receive the Dezső Ablakos Lakatos Performing Arts Scholarship in 2020. Along with the icons of the jazz guitar, he considers his father to be his role model. Béla Horváth began his music studies at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and completed them at the Leeds College of Music, under Tom Cowley. He has performed at the London Jazz Festival and toured all across England. Norbert Dani will graduate from the Liszt Academy in 2023; meanwhile he is a mainstay of the Swing à la Django band. András Márkosi graduated from the Liszt Academy in 2020 with a degree in jazz percussion. He gained a great deal of experience in the performing arts world with the Megapolis Omega Cover Band. Diáni Danyi, a discovery from the 2022 Jazz Showcase, also studied at the Snétberger Music Talent Centre. She has proved herself as a singer of both folk music and jazz.
