On the tenth birthday of its world-famous organ, Müpa Budapest is inviting admirers of this "queen of instruments” to a true surprise party. To more than one, in fact. In addition to a diverse programme primarily for adults, the venue will also be welcoming, with special affection, children either with or without their parents who are curious to learn more about this instrument and its nearly 7,000 pipes, 92 registers and five manuals. The key to this lifelong connection might well be the 40-minute Organ Expedition for Children programme starting at 10 am on 22 May in the Béla Bartók National Conference Hall. The event will feature László Fassang, winner of the Liszt and Prima prizes, professor at both the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and the Conservatoire National Superieur in Paris, and the man behind Müpa Budapest's popular organ concerts. He will set about demonstrating the tones and combinations of tones that can be blended together using the organ's multitude of pipes, registers and manuals. Participation in the programme is free of charge and requires no advance registration.
